چکیده
neous method of right and left heart catheterization was used in 127 patients. In infants and children weighing more than 10 pounds, the percutaneous method was found to be an effective technic associated with a 3% incidence of diminished arterial pulses in the catheterized limb. All patients in this weight group, except one, had left heart catheterization by this technic. The method was deemed time-saving compared to a cutdown, and complications related to the use of end-hole catheters and guide wires

Advances in percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Coronary artery disease is the number one cause of death in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, patients with impaired renal function are much less likely than patients with normal renal function to undergo left heart catheterization and coronary intervention. Patients that do receive invasive strategies experience more bleeding and higher rates of ischemic events. In this revie...

A new catheter suitable for right heart catheterization with percutaneous technique is described. It is made out of the standard PE i6o catheter. The catheter tip does not irritate the myocardium because it has an end loop and the catheter cannot enter fine vessels. The catheter is also easily passed to the pulmonary artery without the aid of x-rays. It has proved useful in pulmonary artery cat...

Dextrocardia is a rare congenital anomaly of development characterized by a mirrorimage position of the heart. Unlike dextrocardia with situs solitus or ambiguus, the coincidence of congenital heart disease is relatively low among dextrocardic patients with situs inversus. However, patients with dextrocardia may suffer from coronary heart disease as do people with normally positioned hearts. Fe...

The success rate, frequency of complications and changes in systolic arterial pressure and heart rate during percutaneous pulmonary artery catheterization via an antecubital vein were evaluated before induction of anaesthesia in 84 patients about to undergo cardiac surgery. Serious complications were angina (2%) and a small tear in the tricuspid valve (one patient). If one of the basilic veins ...
